Solar Panel Bird Proofing: Expert Answers from PJ Solar
How do you stop pigeons from nesting under solar panels?
Solar panel bird proofing uses a fitted perimeter mesh barrier to help prevent pigeons and other animals from accessing the sheltered space beneath a rooftop solar array. PJ Solar specializes in this work, using Bird-B-Gone mesh and compatible clips, with installation methods chosen for the array and roof.
What happens when pigeons nest beneath solar panels?
Nesting can leave droppings, feathers and other debris beneath panels and on the surrounding roof. Inspect the roof and array before selecting cleanup and exclusion methods. Avoid disturbing active nests without checking applicable wildlife protections.
Can pine needles and leaves beneath solar panels create a fire hazard?
Accumulated dry vegetation can add combustible material around an array. It can contribute to fire risk if an ignition source is present. Removing debris and inspecting electrical equipment are important; a mesh barrier can help limit future intrusion but cannot eliminate every risk.
Will bird-proofing mesh damage solar panels?
Installation quality and material compatibility matter. Ask whether the proposed clips and mesh suit your solar panel model and whether the work follows manufacturer requirements. PJ Solar uses Bird-B-Gone materials for its bird-proofing installations.
How often should solar panels be cleaned and inspected?
Cleaning needs vary with dust, weather and bird activity. PJ Solar cleans panels using deionized water and offers a five-year labor warranty on bird-proofing installations, subject to annual cleaning and inspection requirements. Request the written warranty terms for your project.
